Out doing job-search stuff and looking into community college courses. Also got roped into the church garage sale next week, when all I meant to do was sign up to receive the newsletter. *scratches head* How do these things happen to me, again?

I was going to post a bunch of the original stuff I've been twiddling around with recently (when I should be working on "Secrets," bad me), but apparently the library computer doesn't recognize any programs other than internet browsers. So no luck getting them off disk. *sigh* Technology is evil. Evil evil evil.

I will try again this evening from the campus lab.

I can't remember if I ever said, but the characters Apple and Daphne Rumluck in "Secrets" didn't come from that story originally. My sister and I invented them for a different story altogether, in a different world. (It's my world, but Vicky decided she wanted to play in it a little, and I didn't mind too much at the time.)

Anyway, the Apple and Daphne of "Secrets" aren't that much different in personality from their progenitors, but there are significant environmental differences, such as their extended families.

This is a snippet about that Apple Rumluck, the heir to Ivy House and the northern third of the valley of Elsewhere proper.

Blue's Story )

And there you are.

I did actually work on "Secrets" yesterday, for about 200 words, but then Tom needed to respond to Ginny, and I just flinched away from writing him. So today I reviewed all my Tom stories and parts of stories on my hard drive, to try and get back into a state of mind where I can at least write the no-good skunk.

We'll see if it worked.

This is a bit of family history for Raven Carlson, who is a mutant in the X-Men's universe (mostly the movie version, but I can mix in the comics if I darn well feel like it -- they've been retconned so many times anyway that I can justify almost any inclusions I like). It really has nothing to do with that, though -- it's just a young girl, her grandmother, and some of the logical-yet-wrong conclusions that kids can reach.

It's called "Raven Learns German," because I am too lazy to think of a proper title. *grin*
