Skipped out of work early today to run some errands, one of which was buying Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince... which I have been good about and have NOT yet started reading.
Bets on whether I can make it to Friday?
...
I seem to be in editing mode lately, as far as writing goes -- got one beta job back for "Knives," and I'm picking my way through chapter 9 of "Secrets." This one's called 'Telling Stories,' for... oh... a number of reasons. :-) I was not happy with the ending when I wrote it, but I really needed to get things wrapped up so I could then have something to work with. And already I have some ideas for fixing the final scene, so that's good.
On the Naruto front, I am trying to work out the exact AU divergence point for "Tides" and "Leaves." I think it will have to be shortly before Deidara and Sasori entered the cave -- work on the assumption that Gai's team ran just a little faster and intercepted them -- and as such Akatsuki is back to hunting Jinchuuriki instead of doing... whatever the heck it is they're doing.
That seems like cheating, but I don't really want to deal with the latest manga events, and that's the cleanest break-point I can think of right now.
"Leaves" will be structured like "Tides," as a series of sequential, self-contained ficlets, with a rotating POV. However, I want the focus to be more external than in "Tides," since this is a more action-oriented story. In other words, more stuff should happen, with fewer extended internal monologues.
Naruto will like that, but I'm not sure Sasuke and Sakura will be willing to shut up. I mean, I tried writing a fight from Sasuke's POV and it turned into a long philosophical diatribe as much as an action scene! So I'm interested to see how this works out.
"Apartment Manager" is on the backburner for the moment, until I get my Harry Potter shit straightened out.
...
I wish to god the weather would break. I cannot take much more of these 90+ temperatures with humidity you could drown in. At least today we have genuine clouds, instead of a sort of vague, greyish haze cloaking the blue sky.
