Interesting article: Why is the sky blue instead of purple?

---------------------------

My landlords (and downstairs neighbors) finally have their new baby! Anton was born on Sunday, over two weeks late (ouch!), and came home yesterday. He's big for a newborn, though he's just as squinty and funny-faced as they all are, and he flails his arms in his sleep.

I'm glad I now have carpets, since they help muffle noise traveling between floors. This means I don't really hear him crying (it sounds kind of like a lost cat, not a wailing baby), and my movements are less likely to disturb him.

---------------------------

Last night I gave in and read the dustjacket blurb of HBP. Damnit. I had been so determinedly not caring about the upcoming release that I didn't even know there was supposed to be another death, until about 10 days ago. And now just after reading a three or so paragraph blurb, I have all sorts of wild speculations swirling around in my head.

Tomorrow. I will not start reading until tomorrow.

*puts on resolve face*

I have a cunning plan to only bring two books on vacation with me. One is HBP. The other is War and Peace. I figure that unless we get trapped in the cabin 24/7 by thunderstorms, which also kill our internet connection, there is no POSSIBLE way for me to run out of reading material. :-)

Was so massively bored at work (going back through my previous work and documenting little things that are not our responsibility to fix, but that the client should know about) that I started writing chapter 14 of "Apartment Manager."

It sucks ass. See, I'm trying to work a conversation around to make a certain set of points, and the bleeping characters don't want to go there. But it is IMPORTANT that they go there, because it touches off a character decision that then becomes a plot point.
