I think we have spring, folks! Weather's predicted to be 50 to mid-60s all week, songbirds have been coming back, and this morning I saw snowdrops and crocuses peeking through the ground and preparing to bloom. *is happy*

Scene 4 of Chapter 10 of "Secrets" is now done, leaving the chapter at 6,550 words. One more scene to write, and I can send it to beta. (Arguments tend to go quickly, once I start writing them. There's something rather cathartic about writing two people yelling at each other. *grin*) I've also written 300 words of "More Subtle Than Any Beast of the Field," 100 words of "Guardian," and 250 words of "Aphrodisia." (Those last 250 words kind of suck, though. I shall probably have to delete half of them.)

And "Beauty," my gift story for Dad and Vicky, is now at 6,650 words, which is good, and I think I've figured out how to resolve the climax, which is even better! I need to go back and rewrite most of the crisis scenes, since they currently wander all over the damn place, but now that I know where they're going, I can tighten them so they make sense.

I have decided that Ricky is a doofus. He's a sweetheart, and he's brilliant, but he's a total doofus. He also has issues which he refuses to acknowledge. Hope has issues of her own, which she also refuses to acknowledge, and this all leaves poor Grace kind of at sea, trying to deal with massive changes in her life, cope with Hope's issues, and fix or accept Ricky's well-meaning goof-up. I, for one, don't blame her for losing her temper at both of them. "Beauty" is drifting further and further from its fairy-tale template, but that's okay. I never liked the resolution of Ricky-of-the-Tuft anyway. (I wouldn't be writing "Beauty" if I liked it.)
