unexpected visit from Vicky
May. 24th, 2006 05:37 pmVicky got back from Hungary yesterday around dinner time. Today she drove up to Ithaca, jet lag be damned, and visited me!
My sister is nuts, but that's half of why I love her. :-)
Anyway, we had lunch at Diamond, a local Indian restaurant. (I love Indian food, but eating out by myself is lonely, and I can't have it when my parents visit because Dad + spices = badness.) Then we hiked around Buttermilk Falls and its associated gorge -- after a rather lengthy detour because the turnoff is Very Badly Signposted -- and made admiring noises over the really cool kettlehole formations in the shale where there were, or had been, waterfalls. Finally, we drove up the lake to Taughannock Falls... where we just stopped at the overlook because really, who wants to pay $6 just to hike nearly a mile to the base of the falls when you can get a perfectly good view from above, for free?
She is now on her way home, and will hopefully arrive before she gets too tired. I did all the driving this afternoon, so she at least got a bit of a break.
