I would really like to know how exactly I started by trying to write a story about Jadis and her sister, and ended up with two other stories on top of that: one about Jadis and the Lady of the Green Kirtle, and the other about Jadis exploring the Narnian world for several centuries before she settles down to the serious business of destroying the Tree of Protection.

On one hand, it's not very surprising. Backstory and world-building are my obsessions, after all, and all of these things are attempts at writing for Femgenficathon.

On the other hand, why can't I seem to write anything straightfoward these days?

*beats head against desk*

In other news, I just got called by the security company that monitors the alarm system at the smoke shop. That alarm has apparently lost power. The security company has left a message for PM, but they could not reach her live, so they called me.

Am I supposed to call the police? It seems trivial for that. Then again, it could be a robbery...

*wibbles*

ETA: I called the police non-emergency number and they told me a transformer in the smoke shop area had caught fire, which most likely caused the power outage, but they agreed to send someone by just to check that the doors were still locked. If anything is wrong, they will call me back. So that's taken care of.

Other stuff I did today, besides writing about 1,200 words of Narnia fanfic:

-washed laundry
-vacuumed apartment
-washed dishes
-rotated mattress (to prevent sags)
-swapped summer blanket for winter comforter
-sent check to Susan for the picture she made me
-sent sympathy card to my aunt re: my uncle's death
