I think the main problem with ch. 4 is that I have been trying to frame the history lesson as an actual lesson. If I frame it, instead, as Cor reading from the Great Chronicle of Archenland or something along those lines, I think that will cause me significantly fewer headaches when intercutting Cor-and-Corin conversations.

For example, Cor persistently wants to react to lines in the middle of my expository lumps rather than wait until I've laid out several paragraphs, but I refuse utterly to insert scene breaks every other line. It will be much easier to keep things straight if I'm already in his head for the exposition.

In completely unrelated news, I did laundry this evening, and also reassured my dad that yes, I really do want Ardis's paper-cutter. (I only need a paper-cutter once or twice a year, but when I need one, I need one, and scissors are not an acceptable substitute.)

1. Once again, pretending that I know anything about men's college basketball:

Cornell advances to Sweet 16

The next game is in Syracuse on Thursday. That's even local-ish!

(Okay, granted Kentucky is apparently a very good team and Cornell is probably going down in the next game, but this is still pretty exciting.)

2. In less happy news, I am coming down with what feels like a doozy of a cold. I was only tired and a little sniffly this morning, but my internal temperature regulation was already off, and despite taking a two hour nap between church and work and drinking tea and fruit juice like crazy, by the time I closed the store my nose was constantly running, I had a vicious headache, my throat itched, my internal temperature was even more off, and I was starting to feel as if someone had tied lead weights to all my joints.

I have taken NyQuil, and the symptoms have not eased much.

I am going to bed by midnight and sleeping straight through until 11am, which will hopefully be enough rest to get me through tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

3. RemixRedux 8 signups are open! Remix is a... it's not really a gift exchange, though it operates along similar lines. The idea is that you get assigned a remixee and you take one of hir stories and rewrite it the way you would tell a story with those plot threads, themes, and characters/pairings. Meanwhile, someone else is doing the same with one of your stories.

This year Naruto is back on the list of qualifying fandoms. I am interested in having it remain on the list in future (mostly so I will have options that are not Harry Potter, because the qualifying fandoms lean heavily toward Western TV shows and movies that I don't watch and/or write for), so if you think Remix sounds interesting, I would love it if you signed up and included Naruto as a fandom you qualify in and/or are willing to write for. *gives you puppydog eyes*
