I think the main problem with ch. 4 is that I have been trying to frame the history lesson as an actual lesson. If I frame it, instead, as Cor reading from the Great Chronicle of Archenland or something along those lines, I think that will cause me significantly fewer headaches when intercutting Cor-and-Corin conversations.

For example, Cor persistently wants to react to lines in the middle of my expository lumps rather than wait until I've laid out several paragraphs, but I refuse utterly to insert scene breaks every other line. It will be much easier to keep things straight if I'm already in his head for the exposition.

In completely unrelated news, I did laundry this evening, and also reassured my dad that yes, I really do want Ardis's paper-cutter. (I only need a paper-cutter once or twice a year, but when I need one, I need one, and scissors are not an acceptable substitute.)
