1. Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

2. In other news, as of yesterday I am twenty-nine years old. I can't say that it feels much different from being twenty-eight. *wry*
Tomorrow I plan to pretend I am a tourist and drive up the western shore of the lake to some of the more northern wineries, which I don't usually get to when my parents visit, on account of travel time. Also, I think at least one of them is doing some special event involving free chocolate, on account of Valentine's Day, and I am always in favor of chocolate. :-)
(Sometimes it can be annoying having a birthday so close to Valentine's Day -- depending on where the dates fall in relation to the weekend, it can be damnably tricky to make a reservation at a nice restaurant for a birthday dinner when everyone and their dog has already made Valentine's reservations -- but mostly I find it nice that the grocery stores stock up on chocolate and cupcakes right when I want something sweet. *grin*)

3. So, Egypt! Mubarak is gone, which is good. The army is in charge now, which is... well, it could go any number of directions. I am cautiously hopeful. And the people made it all happen, which is AWESOME. The moral arc of history does indeed slowly bend toward justice.

4. Last night I was trying to work on "Lemonade," but got ambushed by ideas relating to the relative airing dates of BtVS, Firefly, and Dark Angel, and ended up with a 500-word start on a deeply random ficlet involving Buffy and Faith during a slow day in season 7. I suspect it will all come to nothing, but you never know.
