So, yeah, apparently I write Inception fic now? Ariadne and Arthur, a little tag to the paradoxical architecture scene. 525 words.

[Now crossposted here on AO3 and here on ff.net.]

If You Have Any Questions After the Lecture )

Because world-building and missing scenes are fun. :-)

1. Because I am possibly nuts, I signed up for the Narnia Fic Exchange this year. I mean, it's not like I don't have enough to write already... *headdesk*

But whatever. I like challenges, and exchanges are in some ways easier than writing for myself -- the restrictions are useful in telling me several thousand ways not to go, which saves time and flailing and bouts of "I have six million ideas; which one should I actually pay attention to?" syndrome.

I received my prompt today. While it's a bit vague in some respects, there are some interesting ideas and I think given a week or so I will come up with some characters and a plot. So yay for that. :-)

---------------

2. I signed up for Femgenficathon, as always. Hopefully this year I will not have a complete loss of motivation during the summer, which is why I didn't finish a fic last year. In hopes of avoiding that, I have already chosen a fandom and character (which are, respectively, obscure and even more obscure) and am in the process of doing some preliminary research and note-taking, so I have all my canon details in place to start elaborating on.

But these things have a way of falling through for one reason or another, so I think I won't mention any details until I have made a start on an actual rough draft.

---------------

3. I'm really sorry I haven't finished ch. 15 of "Guardian" yet. My sleep schedule got thrown all to hell this past week and a half -- partly because I can only use my computer at night during the summer, and partly because the more tired I get, the worse I get at time management and so I forget to make myself go to bed -- and I cannot write when I am sleep-deprived and also overheated.

Anyway, I have started Eiji's POV scene and the chapter is currently at 3,300 words. So, you know, I am working on it. Just very, very slowly. :-(

Um. So, I may have, two or three days ago, had a completely cracked idea for a story fusing Inception characters into the Anita Blake world. Which I decided not to write, because A) it's crack; B) I have no time; and C) I haven't read any Anita Blake since one or two books after Narcissus in Chains (I seem to have blanked out the titles), which was years ago, and I gave away my copies of the earlier books.

I wrote over a thousand words of it anyway while grocery shopping this afternoon.

*headdesk*

I hate my brain some days. I really, really do.

Anyway, this is the first section, from Ariadne's POV. The story as a whole is set sometime after Circus of the Damned, as marked by references to the Earthmover's visit to St. Louis, but beyond that I am vague like a vague thing. More may appear if I can't stop myself. *hits head again* (1,050 words)

Weregild, part 1 )

---------------------------------------------

The title makes no sense with this section, but it would become self-explanatory if I wrote more and revealed some of Dom and Arthur's backstory, and, you know, the actual plot. *sigh* (Also, did you know there is an Anita Blake wiki? Well, there is. And now I have lost part of my excuse for not continuing this, since I have an easy way to look up some basic canon details. *beats head repeatedly against computer desk*)

OMG! New York state legalized gay marriage today!

I knew the bill was before the state senate, and that the vote was going to be close, but this is awesome!

Yay for my (adoptive) state!

Okay, so technically the bill that passed the state senate is not exactly the same as the bill that passed the state assembly, but the assembly should be easily persuaded to agree to the senate's version, and I am sure Gov. Cuomo will sign the finished product, so while this is not yet legally quite a done deal, in practice it is. And so I reiterate: yay! :-)
