edenfalling: headshot of a raccoon, looking left (raccoon)
This was written for [livejournal.com profile] hungrytiger11, in response to the prompt: Hinata + any of the girls, moving on. I stuck it into the summer-camp-and-politics AU partly because I had an IDEA, and partly because I wanted to round off that world's continuity.

This is the most depressing story I have written in ages. It is also, I think, a hopeful story, and a funny story in some sections, but Hinata is not in a good place mentally or emotionally, and has not been in a good place for the majority of her life. So, you know, warnings for depression, learned helplessness, severely dysfunctional families, and a traumatic backstory involving kidnapping, long-term captivity, and murder. None of it is graphic, but even so. (4,850 words)

ETA: The slightly revised final version is now up on the AO3 and ff.net! (AO3 version; ff.net version)

After Frost )

Like I said, depressing. But also hopeful. And that is the end of the summer-camp-and-politics AU, at least for the moment. I will try to tidy up and post all three fics on ff.net and maybe also the AO3 by the weekend.

And now I move on to the trollstuck fic for [livejournal.com profile] explodingfrogs! Hopefully that one will be less emotionally draining, even if it does start with Troll Jade Harley frantically trying to stop minor Act 5 troll backstory spoiler ) I think narrative tone of voice makes a huge difference, for one thing. (Now I just have to convince myself that I cannot and should not try illustrating the damned thing...)

My Narnia Big Bang story is up!!! (Now in more than one place! AO3 version and ff.net version)

To Every Thing There Is a Season: Ilgamuth Tarkaan was fourteen when he first rode to war. He was likewise fourteen when he pledged his life and his name to Prince Rabadash, a decision that would shape the rest of his life. Prequel to "Out of Season." Contains character death, violence, and moral dilemmas. (21,300 words)

Also! Go look at the awesome art by [livejournal.com profile] i_autumnheart and tell her how amazing it is!

Also also, thank you to [livejournal.com profile] metonomia for beta-reading. :-)
