yay birthdays!
Feb. 10th, 2013 08:35 pmToday I am 31 years old! *throws confetti*
(I never feel old on my own birthdays, incidentally. Vicky's birthdays are the ones that throw me, because when my little sister turns X years old, that means that I am X + 3 years old. And that's terrible. *grin*)
Anyway, I successfully negotiated transport to and from the Mardi Gras brunch that was hosted by some members of my church, for which I had purchased a seat in the service auction this past November. The brunch itself was delicious -- beignets, frittata, French toast, sausage gumbo and dirty rice, shrimp étouffée, cheesy grits, some dessert involving bananas and brown sugar, and King cake to finish off, plus mimosas, Bloody Marys, and café au lait (the last two of which I didn't drink, because tomato juice and coffee are not tastes I have ever bothered to acquire). It was also fun, because I got to properly meet and talk to/with a bunch of people I have only ever seen in passing. (One unfortunate side effect of teaching RE every year is that I rarely get to actual services in the sanctuary and I tend to rush off shortly after classes finish rather than staying for coffee hour, either because I have to get directly to work or because I want to go home and take a nap before going to work in the midafternoon. Alas.)
Also! I would like to mention, in passing, that today's Homestuck update is the one in which ( spoilers ). And this happened on my birthday. Good update, best present. :-D
