I am letting ch. 15 sit until Saturday, whereupon I plan to print it out and attack it with the Editing Pen of Death. In the meantime I'm working on the epilogue (in between bouts of distracted wiki-wandering, whoops) which is now at 500 words.
I still find it slightly hard to believe that I actually finished the main body of the story after all these years, and that I'm on track to knock the epilogue off my to-do list as well. I have been insisting for years that I would finish this story, really I would...! but after a while that began to feel like a hollow promise, something I said to prop up a self-image (truthfulness, perseverance) that maybe was less truthful than I wanted it to be.
But you know what? I was telling the truth after all. I said it might take me a long time to finish, but someday I really, truly would.
And I did.
