Sunday we had pancakes for breakfast, then took a hike all around Lake Windigo (which took one hour and 45 minutes, give or take). The Windigo path turned out to have more obstacles than we expected, but aside from snapping a few branches by hand and trying to mark a diversion more clearly, there wasn't much we could do to fix them.

In the evening we attended the Blakes' annual Labor Day picnic, down near Ah-Nung Point (the southeastern tip of the island). The entertainment was, as it has been for the past three years, Alabaster Falls, a local folk group. They swear next year they will finally have a CD available, which is good since I would like to buy one. :-)

It was quite cold Sunday night. We closed all the windows and I slept with two blankets and a quilt over the foot end of my bed.

Today Dad and I took the little boat along the shore to the east portage and hauled a plank of wood to fix the rotting bridge he and Mom installed over a sinkhole at the edge of Lake Windigo a few years back. We pried up the rotting board, removed the nails, and hammered the new board into place. Then we spent about half an hour cutting grass along the boardwalk over the swampy area just south of the sinkhole and otherwise tidying scrub and brush overhanging the path. I will post pictures tomorrow.

In the evening we attended game night at the Belts' cabin, which was fun though Heidi O. (one of our island neighbors) and I were the only people in the building under 60 years old. When we got home, Dad and I stargazed again. We successfully identified Draco, Cepheus, and Andromeda, and found where Hercules is, though we couldn't make sense of the stars at all. We also saw Capella and the Pleiades low on the horizon, which was cool.

I have packed all my stuff and am now heading off to bed so as to make an efficient start in the morning. :-)
