Summary: Edmund wants to establish a Narnian newspaper, to further the cause of truth and check the spread of lies and embarrassing songs vicious slander. Nobody else seems to understand the depth of his conviction. (1,700 words)

Note: This fic was written for Cotton Candy Bingo Round One in incredibly belated response to the prompt: news. It's set in the year 1003, three years after the Pevensies arrive in Narnia. Edmund is therefore thirteen and Lucy is eleven. I will try my best to write them accordingly. (The operative word, alas, is 'try.')

[ETA: The AO3 crosspost is now up!]

ExpandIn Song and Story )

The brief mention of King Feyraud of Sarovence at the start of this story is taken from an equally brief mention at the start of Commonly to the Wars, where Lucy reflects on the wars her brothers have fought in by the time she's thirteen. I have added that incident to my Narnian timeline, along with some additional background references and implications from other stories.

I have internet access!!! Glory hallelujah, praises, etcetera.

The technician showed up at 3:55pm and the physical installation went smoothly. (It helped that at least one previous resident of the apartment had cable internet or television, so the holes and cables were already in place. They just needed to be reconnected.) There was a glitch in the registration process -- by which I mean when I tried to get online, I hit a static "go use your telephone to give us some data" page rather than a form with entry blanks, and when the technician tried to use his phone to enter the relevant product code number, he kept getting error pages -- but that turned out to solve itself with a simple reboot, so all is well.

And now, if you will excuse me, I am going to go surf the web for several hours. :-D
