Well, I just wrote myself out of one narrative trap and into another. Whoops!

(In other words, the Volcano-nin no longer look like idiots for picking an obviously unwinnable fight... and now I have no idea how the hell Naga and Suisen are supposed to survive their part of it. This is what I get for making the antagonists too good at their jobs. *headdesk*)

I'm going for a walk. Maybe when I get back with takeout dinner, things will look more manageable.

Chapter 16 rough draft is now 1,400 words and I think I've figured out how to wrap up the fight scene (okay, it may end up eating half the chapter after all, but at least it's working now), so I stuck chapter 3 up on AO3 tonight.

Chapter the Third, in which Naruto disapproves of his new neighbor, Yukiko receives a mission, Naga and Kakashi have a little heart-to-heart, Yukiko deals with her family, and the plot kicks into gear at last.

I decided, upon due reflection, not to change Seichi's name after all. I'd been seriously thinking about it, because it's kind of weird and obscure compared to Seiichi, but eh, it's grown on me over the years. (I'm sticking by the switch to Tsukihime, though, because people kept persistently misreading her name that way anyhow. Plus it makes the joke more obvious, which compensates for the way I changed her hair to golden-brown instead of blonde. *wry*)
