daily update, Friday March 6
Mar. 6th, 2020 09:45 pmThings done today:
1. Rental company office 9am-7pm. Did not die! (Despite still sounding like a dying frog, and my throat doing a good impression of the Atacama Desert, ugh.)
2. Still have not finished reading A Fistful of Shells, but made a few more pages worth of progress.
3. Wrote ~275 words of the Doctor Who/Magnus Archives crossover.
4. Steamed some broccoli. (Yesterday I roasted zucchini, which I think I forgot to mention. Hurrah for vegetables?)
5. Called my mom to catch up, since we couldn't talk Tuesday evening on account of me still being basically a zombie, and we couldn't talk yesterday evening since she was at a local high school musical performance. The family news is as follows:
My brother has bought a house! \o/
It's a small house, and it needs about $7,000 worth of repairs and also a complete interior repaint because the previous owners made some deeply questionable interior design choices, but still. House!
Now I get to make some decisions I'd been putting off while his plans were in limbo: namely, am I in fact moving to Minnesota this summer, and if so, how are the details of that going to shake out. Like, I can't move during the last week of July or the first week of August on account of Susan's wedding. And it would be good to nail things down before I'd have to apply for Not the IRS jobs in Minnesota, which argues for July. But July's so close, you know? And also I'd have to switch my lease from yearly to monthly starting in June, so...
Ugh.
And I need to get really serious about decluttering and just generally sorting through my years of accumulated stuff, because it's very unlikely I'll get an equally large apartment in Minnesota. (Seriously, my current apartment is really sized for a couple (possibly with one child), not a single person. I am spoiled and I know it.)
But anyway, enough rambling. Nick has a house! And he has all of April and May to get it into shape before his apartment lease ends. Everything else can be shoved aside for later consideration. :)
And now, to bed. Because sleep is delicious and I am, after all, still recovering from a cold. *sigh*
