Things done today:
1. Rental company office 9am-5pm. Finished the website photo spreadsheet that Miss California and I were working on at Aunt Boss's request. We now have a list of apartments we definitely want to photograph this summer, and a smaller list of apartments that we'd like to photograph either wholly or just in part to fix some minor omissions or view-out-the-window photos taken on dreary days. Obviously we may not be able to get all those photos -- we can't go into apartments whose tenants have renewed for the 2020-2021 lease year, obviously, and sometimes the turnover and move-in schedules just don't leave us enough of a gap -- but we'll give it our best try.
Other than that it was a very slow day.
2. Read The Threefold Tie, which is a sweet threesome romance (M/M/F) set in New York state in the years after the Civil War.
3. Boiled eggs for future breakfasts and steamed broccoli for tonight's dinner.
4. Took kitchen compost to the communal bin.
5. Found a dead mouse in the cupboard under the sink while I was pulling out my vinegar bottle in preparation for boiling eggs. (I am not entirely sure how effective this is, but my mom swears by adding a splash of vinegar to the water when you boil eggs, to weaken the shells and make them peel more easily. I just do it by habit because that's how I learned and it certainly doesn't hurt.) Took dead mouse outside and chucked it into the brush pile in the back yard. Scrubbed mousetrap and cupboard surfaces.
6. Listened to episode 162 of The Magnus Archives. Ow, my heart. Jonny Sims really loves to murder us with what might have been, doesn't he? Also,
( vaguely spoilery? ) was not worrying in the slightest, nope, not one bit, no how, no way. But hey, at least the plot is kicking in now?
7. Started turning my present tense "and then, and then, and then" draft sections of the Narnia/Naruto crossover into proper past tense tight 3rd-person narrative. In the process, I added ~400 words to the story, bringing it up very nearly to 11,000 words. \o/
(I should perhaps mention that while the story has a tentative title within the actual file, I am fairly sure I will end up calling it something else since that title doesn't fully match the thematic arc. Also, the file name itself is just "ARGH (rough draft)" and now "ARGH (beta draft)." I'd like to come up with something better before I get to "ARGH (final draft)," you know? *wry*)
And now I believe I shall read a bit more fanfiction before hitting the sack. :)
