Am reading more Bleach scanlations. Am in the middle of vol. 14.

Jesus fuck, Mayuri is creepy.

And Ishida, how are you so awesome? *loves Ishida*

*loves Orihime too*

*heck, loves everyone!*

*except Mayuri, who is just creepy and evil and probably a sociopath*

(What is up with Soul Society, letting people like that into positions of power? ETA: Also, Ishida, how are you so dense? Your father wants to protect you. Silly boy.)

In other news, life at the store continues to be... interesting.

In New York state, we are legally required to ask people who look like they might be 25 or under for ID before selling them any restricted items (alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, and porn, basically). It doesn't matter if we're pretty sure they're over 18; if they look 25 and under, we have to see ID. (Unless we've previously carded them, of course, but even that's kind of a gray area.)

There's a guy, probably in his early to mid-twenties, who comes to the shop sometimes in the evenings. I am quite sure he's over 18. However, he looks 25 or under.

He never has his ID. I have refused to sell him tobacco products about seven times now. Each time, he gets angrier at me; I think he takes it as a personal insult, even though I repeatedly tell him this is a point of law and I can't break the law just because it's inconvenient for him.

Last night, he yelled, postured, asked me if I was going to give him a hard time about this again (answer: Yes, damnit, because it's the law you pigheaded bastard), and asked, "Am I going to have to get my sister to take care of you?" which I think means he's threatening to have his sister beat me up.

Okay, minor points for chivalry and not beating me up himself, but still. I'm telling PM (the manager) today, and if he gives me a hard time again, I'm calling the police.

One would think that if in fact he was over 18, he'd find a way to remember his ID by this point, right? It's not like it should come as a shock to him that you need it. I used to work at a gas station. Just to be on the safe side, I asked anyone who didn't have grey hair AND wrinkles. I knew too many kids in college who had grey hair early. If he's over 18, he should take it as a compliment, bring an ID next time and stop having his sister fight his battles. Telling the store manager is a good call. Good luck with the fool.
