I've concluded, for the purposes of "All the Difference" and "In a Yellow Wood," my new Harry/Tom (eep!) linked stories, that reality can be made to act as a sort of giant Pensieve, and you can get outside of time the same way you leave a Pensieve. Outside, there is a yellow wood filled with silvery pools, like the Wood Between the Worlds in "The Magician's Nephew," only this one goes to alternate timelines rather than totally separate worlds. This is how Harry intends to change things, after the last battle has gone disastrously wrong and he's about the only person left alive. (Voldemort is dead, though.)

The problem is that there has to be some special charm or potion that lets you get outside. And I have no idea what it might be. The only thing I'm coming up with involves mixing basilisk venom and phoenix tears, since the contradictory powers might sort of cancel out reality, but I don't think that's enough. I wonder how regular Pensieves work, anyhow? They're awfully peculiar things.

Also, my knee is aching again. Stupid knee. It's been a little funny ever since I banged it up in soccer practice a few years back.
