Mostly I was at work -- 7am to 4pm, which is the standard opening shift. It was a fairly slow day, for obvious reasons. It also rained probably 2/3 of the time, but in a peaceful way rather than a thunderstorm. It was a Zen day. :-)

Then I went home, took a brief nap, and worked on fanfiction. I edited one of my unposted themes for [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree because I now have the official English translation of Angel Sanctuary vol. 20 and that required a dialogue tweak. I fiddled around with the dream scene in "Secrets," which is being recalcitrant at the moment; it starts out all right but it doesn't segue well into the waking portion of the scene. Finally, I wrote 600 words of "The Dragon Debacle," which is a totally self-indulgent story about what Apple and Daphne did the summer before "Secrets" starts; its only connection to canon is the Romanian dragon reserve and Charlie Weasley.

I also read two chapters of a book on Taoism (which I think was a course book for a comparative religions class I failed during the depressive tailspin that led to my first medical leave from college), and one chapter of a book on wind and weather. I enjoy reading nonfiction. For one thing, I like learning how the world works and how other people interpret history and culture. For another, it's useful to know at least a little bit about a lot of random things; it helps spark ideas and lend verisimilitude to fiction I may be working on now or in the future. :-)

DW has been officially fired from the shop, and we have a third new employee in barely over a month. This one is named T. I've never met him; MS says he didn't make a great impression. I just hope he works out better than DW. Working out as well as OH seems a bit too much to ask for at this point. *deep sigh*

...

Also, tomorrow I really need to finish Week 4 inventory. I would have counted either the postcards or the coffee filters & etc. today, but I was busy writing up the Elmira order for tomorrow, and then checking in the J&R shipment, and didn't manage my time as well as I should have. *deeper sigh* Oh well. I suppose I'll get used to this 'being nominally in charge' thing sooner or later. And tomorrow both MS and ET will come in at 9am which allows some more leeway in getting the daily list done.

*is determinedly optimistic about this, damnit*

You might like a lovely little book called "the Tao of Pooh".
