this is my brain on crack
Sep. 30th, 2004 06:12 pmSo
lasultrix, in the course of doing beta commentary on "Restoration," my post-war HP very long one-shot, told me I should write a story in which Ginny takes Hermione out clubbing and Harry, Draco, and Luna are having mad threesome sex.
This is completely not the sort of thing I write, at all. I know nothing about nightclubs. I don't write sex.*
...
The story's at 5,000 words and counting.
WTF???
*"Parseltongue" was an aberation and doesn't count.

The story I'll post once I finally get it back from my betas is 7,500 words and the whole thing takes place in a single hour. Okay, it's a tad heavy on dialog, but I'm character-and-dialog-driven. So what would a H/D/L threesome add to the story, especially since you don't write sex? I guess I'm confused. (Not to mention H/D/L confuses me, but that's just me ;)

Date: 2004-09-30 11:10 pm (UTC)I'm mostly surprised because it's not an idea that would ever occur to me on my own, and yet the plot bunny grabbed hold of my brain and hasn't let go yet. And there will actually be sex, of some sort. It's not that I can't write it, it's just that I usually don't have stories that go anywhere near that direction, because that's not where my writing imagination goes. (My reading imagination is all for teh smut, but it doesn't usually translate over, for some reason.)
The H/D/L only makes sense in the context of the as-yet-unposted "Restoration," in which they develop the tentative beginnings of friendship. In other words, I consider the current story, "Paint the Town," a sort of AU sequel to "Restoration."
