Well, my parents have embarked on their very very VERY belated summer vacation. (My dad got out to the lake twice, since he's unemployed, the bum, but my mom has somehow ended up as one of the two sysadmins for the library network, and since the other sysadmin was off on sabatical, she couldn't leave. Except for one weekend trip down to Roanoke.) They're driving all the way to the west side of Chicago today, and then visiting with my aunt this evening on top of that! I think they're nuts.

Then there will be lake time, a visit with Ardis in the twin cities, and a visit with Grandma Doris in Iowa.

I wish them warm weather, because otherwise the lake's gonna be miserable, given that the cabin is mostly unheated and uninsulated.

I, on the other hand, am still unemployed (bah) but am also still doing the headless chicken dance of way too much writing time. (The headless chicken bit comes in since I can't seem to concentrate on any one story, and keep flipping from one to another to another to... well, you get the idea.)

But! This means I have finished the rough version of chapter 4 of First You Have to Get There. Go me! It rambles like anything, but as I had no outline and was just letting Ginny and Harry talk about whatever came up, that's not particularly surprising.

Am off to read the latest chapter of Paracelsus's Restitution, which is the third of a really great post-Hogwarts series.
