This week we had a small class: two girls, three boys, and one parent plus baby sister. The story was Pano the Train, which is meant to be about learning to listen to what other people tell you, especially when they're trying to help, but which is not written with a clear enough emphasis on that theme. So I kind of interpreted the story instead of reading it word for word -- I figure that's okay when you're not specifically trying to teach kids to read. :-)

Then we talked about things that are hard for us to do, and then we colored pictures of train cars (and an engine and caboose) and pinned them up on the wall. It was a short activity, so we stretched snacktime out a bit by imaginative use of pretzel sticks. It turns out that you can do some very interesting charades with pretzel sticks. :-)

Then the young adult lunch group went to the Apple Harvest Festival, which has been running on the Commons since Friday. I bought a half pound of fudge (.25 lb plain chocolate, and .25 lb mint chocolate swirl), and had alu palak for lunch, because I like Indian food and it's good to eat vegetables now and then. I think I'll do laundry this afternoon, and hopefully get somewhere on some of my unfinished stories and chapters.

It's a beautiful day. :-D
