Am off to my catering job soonish. (Must first look up and print bus schedules, as I haven't the foggiest idea when the bus to IC runs, nor the night bus that loops between IC and the university I no longer attend, passing my neighborhood on the way.)
Why am I so nervous about this? I know from food service -- I can't cook worth much, but I can take orders and arrange platters and serve drinks and make nice with people at tables. I have two years paid experience doing that, and with senior citizens who couldn't remember their own orders half the time. I know from difficult "customers."
I think it's just that I haven't worked at all for two months. I'm out of the habit.
Plus, new boss, new location, etc. I usually get a little nervous when flung abruptly into a new situation, regardless of my prior relevant experience.
