We've arrived on the island, after an... interesting... trip. Today was fine. Yesterday was fine. But Friday... for god's sake, it took us 6 and 1/2 hours to cross Pennsylvania!

First we hit construction. Then more construction. And then yet more construction. And then a torrential downpour. Then more construction. Then a really nasty accident that left us literally parked on the highway for almost half an hour. Then more construction.

Once we got into Ohio, we thought it might clear up. But no, we got a second torrential downpour! And then more construction, right before the exit to our motel.

We thought we could reach the edge of Chicago. We quit partway into Indiana.

Still, here we are! And it's an absolutely gorgeous day, sunny and warm, perfect for lazing around on the dock. Which is where I am headed, right now.
