Today we got a shipment from Phillips & King (P&K), which is one of our tobacco suppliers. We order all our foreign and clove cigarettes from them, as well as various cigars, some snuff, some pipe tobacco, and so on. In each shipment, we often receive free samples of various products; this is a standard sales technique. The freebies are generally singleton cigars or tobacco-related paraphernalia like humidifier disks.

Today, the freebies were a set of ExtenZe penis enhancement pills, and a 2-ounce cherry-flavored shot of liquid ExtenZe.

WTF? No, seriously, WTF? I mean, I know cigars are phallic and all, and most cigar-smokers are male, but we're a magazine shop that does a healthy side business in tobacco, lottery, and snacks/candy/drinks. Discounting the porn mags, do we look like a sex shop?

*headdesk*

We got a new P&K sales rep last week, and he said he'd be sending samples of various other things he sells, but penis enhancement? That is a new one to me.

Now I'm wondering, what do you do with the samples? Do you sell them?

Some we sell, which helps cover the losses from damaged products (cracked cigars, bug infestations, mark-downs because of crumpled packaging, etc.), some we throw out because we have no use for them, and some go to my coworker ET, who smokes cigars; he then reports whether they're any good.
