In the past week or so, I have been friended by three Cyrillic-alphabet journals that were then ~~struck through~~ within hours of friending me. I assume the deleted journals were spammers or hackers or something. (I checked the first two before they vanished; they were exactly the same journal, just with different vaguely Slavic-sounding usernames.)

Is this happening to anyone else?

(I was also friended by one English-language advertising/search/spam journal, which seems to still be undeleted. I am not sure if it's part of the same pattern.)

But there's nothing with Cyrillic-alphabet journals specifically ?

Ok, I have a problem that's similar though not exactly the same. There are plenty of Cyrillic-alphabet lj users who are friending me (20-30ish) - there's only those at the moment. I didn't do anything except friending them, cause there was nothing wrong per se about them... it's just that's highly unusual. So, I'm not friending them anymore at the moment, but do you think I should unfriend the first I already friended ?

I was a Copperbadge fan so i follow his situation quite closely. Apparently just before the hack and destroyed he was friended en-masse by weird Russian journals.

Hence I see it as a sign that something weird is going on when people you don't know and should not know are friending you.

copperbadge got hacked, but yeah, it's probably about time to change my password anyway. *sigh*

I got friended by some Cyrillic journals too. If they spam you in Cyrillic, you can always ban them, if you feel the need.

So far they've been deleted before they could do anything, but I will definitely keep that option in mind!
