Semi-random question:
Several years ago, I joined
15minuteficlets, a now-defunct livejournal writing community. The idea was that every week the mod would post a word behind a cut tag, and once you saw the word, you had fifteen minutes to write something inspired by it. It was a wonderful writing exercise: I got quite a lot of fanfic and several original fiction snippets out of it over a year or two, even without participating every week.
Lately, I have been having a hard time writing. All my projects have dragged out to epic length, and I am suffering a dearth of enthusiasm. I miss the spark and discipline or
15minuteficlets.
But. I can't self-motivate on this. If I pick a word from the dictionary and give myself half an hour, it doesn't have the same effect.
Does anyone know any lj writing communities that give weekly prompts of some sort?
(I ask because I fail at getting lj search functions to work in any useful fashion. Clearly I am doing something wrong, but I have yet to figure out what or how to fix my errors.)
ETA: Nevermind!
silverblade219 has proved that I not only fail at search functions, I fail at checking up on old communities' info pages to see if, you know, they happen to have links to their successor communities. *headdesk*
15_minute_fic was started by some people who really liked the
15minuteficlets concept and wanted to continue it when the original community closed. Thank you,
