I have a new place to live! Okay, so I haven't signed the lease yet -- that's for tomorrow morning -- but I have a verbal agreement with my new landlord, which means the rest is technicalities.

This apartment is one of four in a building near Fall Creek Cinema, which means it is only one block from the Fall Creek laundromat, about a ten minute walk from the P&C grocery store, and maybe a twenty-five minute walk to the Commons. It's on the ground floor, with a private entrance and small deck/porch at the back of the house. Inside, it has a large kitchen with a breakfast nook, a large bathroom, a bedroom, a living room, and two other smallish rooms that can be repurposed as necessary. (One will become my computer room; the other will be some combination of library and guest room.) Some rooms are carpeted, but the living room has a hardwood floor that I will probably cover with area rugs, as I did for my current apartment.

The plan is for my parents to come up on Friday the 12th, rent a truck, load it, and hopefully leave it in Mr. and Mrs. B's driveway overnight. Then we unload my furniture and stuff into my new place on Saturday the 13th. So I will be paying a pro-rated June rent on the new place, because I won't be living there for the whole month. Then I will use the next week or so to finish sorting and moving the small stuff out of my current apartment, and cleaning it within an inch of its life.

I think I shouldn't have to pay June rent on my current apartment, since I paid the standard last month's rent when I moved in. I also need to talk to Mr. and Mrs. B about getting my damage deposit back when I move out. Unfortunately, I have misplaced my copy of my 2005-2006 lease, so I am trying to reconstruct these transactions from my checkbook registers. *frown* (Clearly, I need to be more organized about important paperwork. Which reminds me, I need to create a folder for my dental bills and related documents. Bother.)

But anyway, details schmetails. I have a new apartment! I will not be homeless in July!

*dances*

Congratulations! That's a pretty area, though a little far from downtown.

I used to use the Fall Creek Laundromat when I lived on Yates St.--in fact, I first injured my back carrying about a ton of laundry there in two suitcases and a backpack. Ah, memories.

Congrats. :D Sounds like a nice place.

...there's a P&C in Ithaca? We're keeping track of the chain's slow and painful death.

Aha. The one in the town near us (good ole Clyde) closed, and so did the one in...Seneca Falls, maybe? One of the others. Ithaca is the last bastion of the P&C!

When I was there for school last summer, I mostly stalked the Wegmans and the small grocery stores near Cornell's campus. And ate out a lot. Because nom Japanese curry.
