7 unrelated things
Aug. 9th, 2009 10:55 pmIn no particular order:
1. My hair is now long enough to put up in a ponytail! (I think my last haircut was in April or May of 2008, so that's about 14-15 months I've been growing it out.)
2. I finished the scene with Hagrid. The ending is horrible. No, really, you have no idea. I said everything I wanted/needed to say and then I had no idea how to wrap it up and get out of there. So there are currently stupid things about Tom and Hagrid and the nature of a good person. (Also, for no apparent reason, Hagrid tells a story about Venomous Tentaculas. My brain baffles me some days.) I have noticed that whenever I have no clue how to end a scene in "Secrets," I default to A) Ginny goes to bed/falls asleep, B) Ginny makes a resolution, or C) Ginny thinks about Tom. Sometimes I manage all three at once. But I do not think the Hagrid scene is an appropriate place for any of those three failsafes. *sigh*
3. My computer has been peculiar and finicky at me for three days now, to which I say boo hiss.
4. There is too much porn in fandom and not enough long, plotty action-adventure genfic. Also, there is too much fic that relies on demonizing various characters in order to make stupid convoluted plots that feature other, more favored characters. But I don't think there is much anyone can do to alter the state of things. (And anyway, I am not against porn. I just wish there was more gen to balance it out. I am against bashing, though. Bashing is dumb and bad writing to boot.)
5. My fingernail scissors broke yesterday. I will buy a new pair tomorrow.
6. I must ask my neighbors about the trash cans and recycling bins in front of our house. I have the feeling one may be assigned to my apartment, and I am failing to get full monetary value from my trash tags when I simply put out a naked bag each week. I suspect I am meant to toss them in a trash can for a month and put them out collectively.
7. We had thunderstorms today in the afternoon, and then silent lightning flashing behind the clouds at a rate of one strike every 3-5 seconds from roughly 9pm to 9:45pm, which was an interesting thing to watch while walking home from work.
