Life is weird, you know?

I have been picking at my Chronicles of Narnia Femgenficathon story about Jadis and her sister for a couple weeks now. I know several incidents I want to put in it and some emotional notes I want to hit, but it hasn't been gelling. Getting words on the page has been like pulling teeth.

And then today, in the back of my mind, I put together a few unrelated idea snippets I'd been turning over for a while and sat down and wrote 1,900 words of a different story altogether. This one is Jadis and the Lady of the Green Kirtle, with continuing references to Jadis's sister, and some fun world-building touches about the giants of Harfang, Lilith and Inanna and the mythology of Charn, the gold spring on Deathwater Island, etc. It also contains musings on dead languages and the use of the Fibbonacci sequence in a spell, because I am random like that.

Anyway, this is all very well and good, especially since the new story also fits my Femgenficathon prompt (so I am probably covered if the original story never does coalesce), but the thing is, this new story doesn't work half as well unless you've already read the first story... which is not and may never be finished! *beats head against desk*

I hate my brain. I really, truly do.

In real life news, work was very stressful Monday and today. Hopefully Wednesday will be less crazy.

Also, my uncle's memorial/funeral will be on Saturday, October 10. I talked to PM today and got permission to take Friday-Sunday off that weekend to fly down to Virginia and attend the service. So that's... not all right; nothing about his death is 'all right'... but at least it's arranged. *sigh*
