when dental appointments attack!

As I left for work this morning, I noticed my mail had already been delivered. Since one of the items was a Netflix CD, I figured I'd take them inside right away.
One of the items was a reminder postcard for my annual dental appointment tomorrow.
...
What dental appointment? This was not on my calendar! This was not in my plans!
But I got a confirmation phone call this afternoon, so this seems legitimate. I am even willing to believe I made the appointment in June or July and somehow forgot to write it on my calendar. Still. That is not the kind of surprise I want at the start of my day.
Fortunately, the appointment is for 10am and I don't have to be at work until 11am, so the timing is not an issue. I'm just discombobulated. (And I little annoyed at the expense; I think I will have to transfer some money from savings to checking to cover this.)
