Ooh! Ooh! Squeeee!!!

Chapter 8 of Secrets, 'With a Family Like This,' is posted! Go read it! The Dueling Club! The third attack! Weasley family interactions! Dream scenes! Blackouts! Tom being devious! A bit of Ginny-Harry interaction! Ginny-Daphne rivalry!

woohoo, pissed-off!Ginny.

I really like the scenes with the other weasley, showing how ginny sees their family. the twins are very annoying, but still kind of charming. And percy! he's such a git, but so concerned. I found the scene where they convinced him to stay at hogwarts for the vacation very cute. XD

I love how the tension is rising, i love seeing all the familiar scenes from ginny's point of view...

She's turning out to be rather vindictive, isn't she? XD maybe some of it is the diary's influence, but some of it had to be there before. I like, because martyr!angel!ginny is just annoying.

Ohh. and Tom. Tom. So cleverly manipulative. If I didn't know better, i'd say he was starting to honestly like her... but then, maybe he actually does. O_o;;;

Revenge sounds like a nice thing but it doesn't feel good at all, not when people end up lying frozen in hospital.
Man, she's gotten wise for her age -- but then, experience and all that. (or maybe it's just the twins who are childish XD)

This entire chapter was, in some ways, an excuse for Weasley family stuff. (Okay, yeah, the attack on Justin is important too... Whatever. *grin*)

My feeling about Ginny is that CoS, PoA, and GoF give a somewhat misleading impression of her, since we're seeing through Harry's eyes and she's too embarrassed to act herself around Harry. Also, growing up with her brothers would either create a total doormat or someone with a bit of backbone and understanding of retaliation. I like option two better. :-)

My feeling about Tom is that if he isn't a genuine sociopath, he's damn close to it. I don't think he really connects with other people as people. That said, I think he does enjoy some of his conversations with Ginny, and he may have a slight soft spot for her since she is helping him. Also, I suspect she amuses him in her ignorance. None of this will in any way prevent him from cold-bloodedly trying to kill her.

As for the thoughts on revenge: that is A) the voice of experience, and B) Ginny not understanding that the twins are joking. She isn't able to distance herself from the attacks -- which is understandable since she knows some things her family doesn't know, but does lead to some misunderstandings. Notice that she's still just fine with more petty revenge, like soaking Daphne in the Dueling Club.

Meh. I try to make all this clear in the story, but after a certain point you have to just write what happens, hope you put in enough details to be clear, and let readers interpret it for themselves. *sigh*
