Work went... well, it went. Which is actually better than I'd feared.

ET and BW together managed to get the drink orders partly done, and I think BW is in shape to finish them tomorrow. This is important because usually PM is the one who inventories all our Coke, Pepsi, and Snapple products, finds out what the other stores need, calls in the orders, and leaves notes telling the rest of us what to send out as transfers when the deliveries come in. But PM is out, and the last thing she'll need when she comes back is a bunch of undone chores and stock shortages to deal with.

I called Wind River, which we are trying out as a new source of additive free rolling tobaccos since our previous brand (Farmer's Golden Leaf Additive Free) is no longer being produced. It turns out that the reason their shipment had no invoice is because the products are all samples. This is a relief to know! So I priced them and put out all the additive free options, but I left the rest in the box until we sell out of Farmer's Gold and thus have shelf space for new stuff.

We're having issues with the vacuum cleaner -- not because the cleaner is broken, but because there's a short in the extension cord, and without the extension cord we literally cannot vacuum a third of the store; the regular cord is abominably short. BW says he'll buy a new cord. I am not holding my breath.

Fay, one of our regulars, is bitching about the coffee again. She treats our store as if our only purpose in life is to provide perfect gourmet coffee for her. To which I want to say, "Look, dingbat, we sell magazines and tobacco. The coffee is a sideline. Also, we are the cheapest coffee in town for a reason: namely, that we are bare bones. All we promise you is coffee. We make no quality guarantees -- hell, we keep the stuff in airpots and don't brew any fresh after 4pm; that alone should tell you something!" But she hates the coffee made by every other establishment in town, she hates her apartment, she doesn't trust her water supply (to which I want to say, "You live on the Commons; we're only two blocks away; what makes you think our water's any better?"), etcetera, etcetera.

Fay has no mood control and her emotional volume is stuck on eleven. She drives us all nuts. Some days I honestly wish she'd do something so egregious we could kick her out and ban her -- and hey, she once threw a folding chair at a previous mayor of Ithaca, so I live in hope! -- but she never quite steps over that line. *grumbles*

In other news, my copy of The God Delusion arrived via interlibrary loan today (all local copies were checked out last week), and I plan to read it on Friday, which is my day off this week. We shall see how that goes.

Also, today was Election Day in America. I voted; did you? Granted, I had almost nothing of substance to vote on -- all three local elections in my district were uncontested -- but there were two propositions to approve or deny, so I feel I have not totally wasted my time.

That Faye lady sounds extremely annoying. Urgh. Ranting and bitching at you guys just because you can't run away from her. I bet it's because she scared off everyone else who would listen because they wanted to. >___>

Actually it wasn't election day all over America. No elections in Wisconsin today; our statewide elections are in the fall of even-numbered years, while our local (county and muni) elections are in the spring of odd-numbered years. Weird, yes?
