"Paint the Town" is at 17,000 words and counting.

This is the Harry Potter one-shot that I didn't mean to write in the first place. (It's a madly cockeyed sequel to Restoration, my vaguely melancholy post-war genfic.) Then it was going to be short and humorous. Then the sex pushed its way in. And then backstory appeared. And now I'm nearly done and it's getting almost angsty.

This is not what I meant to be doing with my time!!!

*headdesk*

At least it's a good story. I mean, if I were going through all this aggravation for 17,000 words of crap, I'd be seriously pissed off. As it is, I'm just kind of tired.

Er. Having had a netless Christmas and a manic New Year, I managed to completely forget that you'd sent me any Paint the Town to beta. Now that you've done so much more of it, do you want me to beta what I have, or do you want to replace what you've sent me with the much longer version you have now?

Oh, wait for when I'm done -- I think I can wrap it up in another 500 words. *crosses fingers* Besides, I've tweaked a bunch of the sections you have, and it wouldn't make much sense to beta a paragraph that may not be there anymore. :-)
