I draw three conclusions from the sudden massive popularity of my little H/Hr story:

1) Romances really DO get more readers/reviewers.

2) H/Hr is unquestionably of the two most popular ships in the fandom. (I forget this sometimes since I haven't been reading a lot of HP fic these days.)

3) It is very helpful to be recc'd by a BNF.

Please excuse me while I go have a squeeing fangirl moment over the fact that [livejournal.com profile] madlorivoldmort and [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical, the two authors whose work was my introduction to HP fanfiction, have read and reviewed my story. :-)

HA!! Indeed. Hey, I knew you didn't mean ME :)

As a H/Hr shipper (and rock-solid at that) I often don't understand why my ship isn't more popular, because to me it Just Makes Sense (but then, that's me. I was a Mulder/Scully shipper in X-Files before I ever knew what the word meant :) Your story obviously hit a nerve with H/Hr fans - if [livejournal.com profile] madlorivoldmort recs your fic, you'll get hundreds of readers (since a gazillion people have friended her).

Kudos!!

OMG.

Hardly shocking, since you wrote The Squickiest Non-Neville Ship In All Of Fandom If You're Lasair and I didn't vomit. *g*

Well, I'm not a fantabulous HP writer, but I do write, and I did love what I read. Anyone who has that kind of insight will definitely grab the attention of readers and authors alike.

I am friending you, btw. (sounds so odd) I hope you'll do the same.

Or perhaps it reminded them a bit of their own relationships?

A dashing romance is a nice escape from reality. But to read something that reminds us of the small and wonderful joys in our own lives puts a smile on our faces and makes us look away from the computer screen.

Or this could just be another mad theory!
