I posted chapter 13 of "The Guardian in Spite of Herself" to ff.net last night. So far, several reviews have included some variation of "OMG, you're not dead!/OMG, you're alive!/OMG, I thought you'd quit writing!"
On the one hand, it is a really warm, fuzzy feeling to realize that people still remember and enjoy my story after, you know, a two and a half year hiatus. On the other hand... dead? Not writing? I've been posting at ff.net all this time -- just not that story, and mostly not that fandom either.
If I were a more statistically inclined person, I would say something intelligent about mono-fandom focus, or about how using ff.net's story alert function rather than the author alert function can put blinkers around people's view of various writers and their work, or even about how it's amazing that people don't seem to go from checking a story they like to also checking its writer's profile to see if ze has written anything else of interest. But that sounds like work, and I am opposed to work this evening.
So I will simply say that I have never had so many people express joy at my continued survival, and leave it at that. :-)
*wanders off to watch more Code Geass and do more world-building for the stupid shapeshifting AU I am not actually writing*

Date: 2010-05-07 01:51 am (UTC)The link in the post goes to an LJ post wherein I discuss the initial idea (which was basically images and scene-flashes from a dream I had a few days ago), hash out some further details and implications in the comments, and then lose my head and write a little backstory prequel thing about Marianne vi Britannia for
