So this weekend I thought I would try to get something finished before I dive into NaNo. And I have indeed been writing.

I haven't finished, though. :-(

Way back in February, I did an imaginary sequels meme, as part of which I wrote a snippet set between "Apartment Manager" and "Guardian" for

aishuu. I have continued to work on that fic off and on since then.

It is now 3,700 words long, so help me. And it Will. Not. Goddamn. End.

*sulks*

...

On the bright side, Iruka is now being a manipulative bastard toward Sakura's mother. In a good cause, of course -- this is Iruka; his causes are always good -- but still. It's fun to remember that he's a ninja and therefore perfectly able to use unscrupulous tactics, should he decide a situation calls for them.

I think I'll go to bed now so I'll be awake when I start my NaNo Monday night.

Hopefully the story will not be too boring when I finally defeat it! At the moment it's a lot of talking and parental figures arguing over the social ostracizing of their respective children, but I think I can get Naruto, Shinnin and Sakura to do something suitably dramatic at the climax. They are currently alone on the rooftop garden of Sakura's house, attempting to play with a pair of pet rabbits. There is also a small greenhouse nearby. All kinds of things could go wrong...

Oh, no rabbits will be harmed in the writing of this fic! Possibly annoyed, as seven-year-old kids don't always have the gentlest hands, but Sakura is protective of her rabbits and will keep them safe from overenthusiasm. This is not to say there may not be some chasing of escaped rabbits, however, and the greenhouse may well be doomed.

Iruka is not-so-secretly one of my very most favorite characters in Naruto. I always love getting a chance to write him. :-)

Probably I will get the story done in December. *crosses fingers*
