edenfalling

Today was meant to be my day off, as Saturdays usually are. My plan was to sleep in until noon, go buy groceries and a webcam (birthday gift for my mom) in the afternoon, and work on my Yuletide story in the evening.

Except I was awakened at 11:45 by a call from my coworker RE.

Who had the flu.

And was therefore unable to work.

And I was the only person available to cover his shift.

...

There went my day. *sigh*

On the bright side, today was the first annual Chowder Cookoff on the Commons (the Downtown Ithaca Alliance is trying to build off the runaway success of the annual Chili Cookoff in February, and also piggybacking the chowder onto the annual ice carving thingamajig), so I got a free lunch by walking around from table to table and pretending I had totally bought tickets and slipped them into the jar when no one was looking, and therefore should be given little sample cups of clam or corn chowder. Unethical, true, but since I went at the tail end of the event and a couple restaurants had resorted to shouting "Free chowder! Get your free chowder!" in an effort to finish off very large pots of soup, I am not much bothered. (Yes, yes, I know: bad Liz, no biscuit, whatever.)

As for the groceries, I suppose I will survive on leftover turkey and takeout until Wednesday, when I will also see about buying the webcam.

As for my Yuletide story...

Ask me some other day. *headdesk*
