"Guardian" progress report
Jan. 23rd, 2011 02:53 pmThe Amanes are arguing in circles. Fortunately, I am about to interrupt them with Plot. *evil laughter*
Then I return to Naga, who is attempting to question a civilian about Itachi's movements. This could go wrong in all sorts of ways... *more evil laughter*
2,900 words so far!
(And now off to work until 9pm. I am bringing a set of pantyhose to wear under my pants and socks on the way home, since it's predicted to drop below 0 degrees Fahrenheit tonight, and I would rather not get frostbite, thanks ever so. Blecch.)

Date: 2011-01-23 11:02 pm (UTC)I'm embarrassed to say it took me until my second reading to realize where the Amanes were drawn from. Er, congratulations for making them fit into the Naruto world so seamlessly?

Date: 2011-01-24 03:11 am (UTC)*blinks* While I freely admit to stealing Ginji's name and elemental chakra alignment from Get-Backers, I was not aware that I was drawing his personality from anywhere in particular, let alone Eiji's and Tetsuko's personalities. My creation process ran like this: I needed an idealist and at least one ninja on his side, plus some supporting characters. It would raise the moral tension for my assassins if the idealist had a family, so I gave him a wife and young daughter. At that point I decided to do the semi-civilian equivalent of a three-man team, with the idealist, the ninja, and the idealist's wife. Then Ginji and Tetsuko decided they wanted to be siblings instead of just childhood friends, Eiji and Ginji decided to 'protect' Tetsuko by keeping her out of the loop, and everything else has pretty much grown organically from there.
It is, however, quite possible that I'm subconsciously copying a dynamic I've read somewhere else! And on that note... who do they remind you of?

I was actually thinking that Eiji reminded me a lot of Teshimine, with the idealism and his relationship to Ginji, and the pragmatism he finally gives in to, and the conflicts he has over that. Later-manga Teshimine, at least.
