Last night I wrote about 500 words of 'Secrets.' Today I went back, ripped them up, and tried again.
Because when you find yourself having one character recite The Wendigo to another on Christmas Eve, in the middle of a Harry Potter fanfic, something is Not Working Right.
I have fixed it so Tom tells the legend of Isis and Osiris instead. Because resurrection from the dead? Is very thematically appropriate.

Date: 2005-04-04 09:12 pm (UTC)The Wendigo (or Windigo) itself is a mythological creature native to the North Woods of America and Canada. Some Native American tribes believed it was a protector, while others considered it a monster, or merely an amoral force of nature. It's the source of the stories about Bigfoot, although Bigfoot is a serious dumbed-down version of the Wendigo.
If you find references of ff.net, they'll probably be in X-Men fanfiction, since Wolverine has, on occasion, fought a character called Wendigo. (Which is also a dumbed-down version of the real legends.)
