I figure, since my NFE fic is so impossibly non-anonymous, it won't matter too much if I talk about wordcounts. (I mean, I probably could have done something that doesn't lean so heavily on my previous world-building, or written something using different world-building entirely, but where is the fun in that? Besides, over the years I have gotten stodgy; I don't like to reinvent the wheel, so once I get a plausible explanation for something, I stick with it and don't world-build the same thing anew for each story.)

So. 4,000 words and I am only getting started (which is to say, I have laid all the groundwork but haven't begun to play out the complications and consequences) on both my intertwined plots. God help me.

Oh well, I get off work at 5:30pm on Friday, I have all day Saturday to write like one possessed and don't need to worry about getting up Sunday morning, and I know exactly where I am going and who my cast of characters are, so whatever. I am used to killing myself with deadlines.

It will all work out somehow, I am sure.

The prospect of 4,000 plus words from you in a single shot has me drooling in anticipation.

I'm thinking about keeping a light on in the NFFR chat for all of us racing like maniacs to the finish line, even if the conversation is likely to consist solely of random screams of frustration.
