Apr. 5th, 2005 11:19 pmI hate my fiction. I hate my fiction. I hate my fiction.
Um. Let me rephrase.
I hate my fictional characters. I hate my fictional characters. I hate my fictional characters.
Yukiko is wibbling and mucking up my story flow and then randomly snarking at inappropriate moments when she's supposed to be focused and determined and making clever plans. *thwaps Yukiko*
Ginny and Tom are bound and determined to have conversations about ghost stories and Ancient Egyptian myths. They are supposed to be making a nice, smooth transition to Christmas dinner so Ginny can notice the trio behaving suspiciously, go to Myrtle's bathroom, and eavesdrop from behind Sir Vladislav until she learns about the whole Polyjuice/Malfoy/cat fiasco. I cannot write that until Tom and Ginny stop going off on their stupid tangents. *thwaps Tom and Ginny*
Neville is flat-out refusing to explain anything to anybody, so 'Aphrodisia' is completely stalled.
Naruto and Sasuke can't agree which of them should narrate the next bit of 'Tension, Before,' and 'First Steps,' so I can't write that either.
And Ekanu has gone wandering off somewhere in the eastern Estarian hill country and claims she's taking a mental health break at an old Akhite temple. I am not supposed to bug her about 'Harvest' or any other unfinished stories.
*thwaps characters in general*
I hate writing.
I really, truly hate writing.

Date: 2005-04-06 04:12 am (UTC)I wanted to let you know that the first two Naruto graphic novels arrived at my house today! My son saw them and said, "Are those for me?" I said, "No, but maybe I'll let you look at them when I'm done with them." Apparently they're more or less PG-13, so I need to read them first and make sure they're OK for him. Anyway, they look great. I'm usually really bad at reading comics, but these seem pretty followable. I particularly appreciate the right-to-left "read this way" arrows on every page.

Date: 2005-04-06 02:20 pm (UTC)As for the rating. Yeah, there is violence and some cursing. When you get to Gaara and Sasuke's backstories, there is some seriously twisted family issues (not sexually, just neglect and emotional/psychological abuse). And Naruto has this really bizarre Henge variant jutsu, but there are strategically placed wisps of smoke and I think the American editions have even airbrushed out any nipples that might show. (Apparently in Japan, they don't worry so much about nipples and breasts. It's just what's down below that's an issue.)

Date: 2005-04-07 08:00 pm (UTC)But this is a combination of cases #2 and #3. Trying not to write doesn't help at all -- I just keep getting more ideas -- so the only thing to do is shove them on paper all half-assed (because of #2) and wait for the flood to ebb and my thoughts to straighten out again. :-)
