Star Island, days 2 & 3
Sep. 3rd, 2011 11:38 pmYesterday I swept 2/3 of the roof of debris and cleaned one of the gutters; my dad swept the other third and cleaned the remaining gutters. My mom, meanwhile, has been coating the closet shelves from the back bedroom with polyurethane as part of the anti-mildew campaign.
Today I sprinkled Tide (with bleach) on the roof to kill the moss that starts to grow between the shingles every year, and dug some dirt out from the side of our new stairs (so the steps are exposed to the air instead of half-buried) and moved it up to the top of the bluff to shore up the ground around the top landing. I also helped my dad carry wood to make a temporary bridge over part of the path around Lake Windigo that got washed out last week.
Yesterday we went out to the Canal House restaurant for dinner, since on Fridays they do an all-you-can-eat fish fry. We ended up not getting extra servings because a single serving was already so big that I got lunch today plus lunch tomorrow out of mine.
And that is pretty much that.
