Um. So I may have kind of started reading Homestuck tonight? Not very far yet, I have only hit the point where... Uh. Seriously, does this thing just keep getting more and more meta and inexplicable and fourth-wall-what-fourth-wall? I mean, the only characters I have seen yet are John and his father (and I have not-seen his three chat friends), and already this thing is making me wonder very hard about whether the creator does hallucinogenic drugs in his spare time.

...

I have got to find out what happens next.

I have avoided Homestruck for this very reason; I don't want it to get me too.

So far, I am not minding the brain-devouring much. :-) But I know that feeling. I avoided Avatar: The Last Airbender for several years for the same reason.

(The funny thing about Hussie is you can look at his previous work and he was always like this. He actually had to get more coherent to make Homestuck. So yeah, be ~~afraid~~ excited. Be very excited.)

The beginnng drags on SO TEDIOUSLY. God.

Oh! Also at some point (way later with the guy with the cueball head, but) there's a header and there's pictures in it -- it just so happens they're also part of the story, I can't tell you how long I didn't notice. I'm not sure it's 100% necessary to understand what's going on but it was AAA anyway when I realized I'd missed it. But that means you've got to follow two plotlines at the same time.

I am now at... I have no idea what page number it is, but I think I am about to properly meet the Peregrine Mendicant. I have met Rose, Dave, and Jade. When I left them, John was trying to get to the first gate above his house, Rose was in the basement of the spooky lab next door, Dave was thrown down the a set of infinite stairs by his brother, and Jade was trying to leave her house to feed her pet. (I somehow doubt all of those things are occurring concurrently.) Also the Wandering Vagrant and the mayor of Can City thing happened, which, seriously, WTF???

I actually have not found anything tedious yet! It's too flat-out weird to really get tedious. But if you think it gets better as it goes... *anticipates*

I started reading Homestuck a couple of weeks ago, made it to.... past where you seem to be?, and then started (metaphorically) crying in despair over how long it was taking for anything even vaugely understandable to happen.

I haven't reopened it yet. BUT I NEED TO.

I am apparently on page 3257 -- the end of the intermission with the playing card gang who look weirdly like that Jack guy who captured Mr. Egbert and the green gang who are clearly a set of bad billiards jokes (the Felt?). I have just seen a troll! Act 4 is about to start! Theoretically things will maybe start to explain themselves a little now? Except I suspect the explanations will just make everything even weirder. *hands*

...Actually, no. I will not keep reading tonight. This is a good stopping point, so I will exert willpower and GET SOME SLEEP. *resolve face*

I was only around page... I dunno, 500-ish, when I made the post. As you can see, I kept reading. Homestuck is addictive like that, at least for me. I like most of the characters, and I need to figure out WHAT IN BLUE BLAZES IS GOING ON. :-)
