So I just watched the video file that concludes Act 5.

That was EPIC.

I am not sure I completely understood everything that happened, even after watching three times, but nonetheless: EPIC.

I also like the backstory on the trolls' ancestors, and the main-comic-plus-header-comic narrative trick is cool (as is the snapshot method of shunting readers through little story snippets). The ridiculous 'fifth wall' interlude is... well. Exponentially expanding insanity, as someone said, is pretty much a defining trait of this story.

Oh. Random question: do we ever find out what color Dave's eyes are? I am beginning to suspect they're some shade of red, given that Davesprite's eyes look vaguely orange when seen through orange-tinted glasses on Skaia and dreamself Dave's eyes look vaguely purple when seen through violent-tinted glasses out by the Green Sun just before the Tumor goes bang. The only other time we might get a glimpse of his eyes is ages ago when he took off his glasses on Derse to watch the sky, whereupon there was a brief shot of swirly red-orange around a central black circle (though that shot is also reminiscent of what Hussie uses for shots of the sun, but given that there's no sun out by Derse and Dave was taking off his glasses, eh). Also, Jade's eyes and sprite are green, Rose's eyes are are violet and her sprite sort of pastel pink-purple, John's eyes seem to be blue and his sprite is definitely blue, and Dave's sprite is orange (like orange creamsicles, according to Terezi *grin*) so red or red-orange would make sense for his eyes.

That would also explain why he never takes off his sunglasses, come to think of it.

I don't mind being spoiled on this point, if indeed we ever do get confirmation one way or another.

I want to say (and may be totally wrong because it's been a while since I've been entirely on top of Homestuck) that Dave is an albino, and has redish eyes. Thus why he wears sunglasses all the time. I don't remember when we find this out, tho.

I am informed by iponly that fandom consensus agrees that Dave's eyes are red. I also think I found video confirmation in the EOA animation. If you freeze the frame where he and Rose get their God Tier powers and outfits, you can see their symbols briefly superimposed over their eyes: Dave's symbol and eye are both red. Since Rose's eye is violet and her symbol yellow -- which are the correct colors -- I assume Dave's eye is also its actual color.

I don't know if he's an albino, though. Apparently Hussie (at least according to posts on his Tumblr) deliberately draws them with no skin color whatsoever so people can imagine whatever colors they want; it's supposed to be interpretive or something? I dunno. So I guess he's albino if you want him to be, and he's not albino if you'd prefer something else. *shrug*

Dave's eyes are agreed on as red, yeah. The confirmation would be the scene on Derse you referenced, so no spoilers necessary. Also, Hussie has a really great breakdown of everything he was trying to do in the EOA 5 flash on his tumblr. (http://mspandrew.tumblr.com/) It's about 7 pages back right now, but he doesn't tag stuff and it's split across like six posts, so I can't link it properly.

Ha, thought so. Also, I just managed to pause the EOA 5 video when Rose and Dave are (somehow) entering God Tier, and their respective symbols get briefly superimposed over their eyes. Rose's half of the screen (and thus her eye) is violet, while Dave's is red. Now, his symbol (the clockwork gear) is also red, so that might just be coincidence, but Rose's symbol (the sun) is yellow as it should be, so I think this is also confirmation that Dave's eyes are actually red. Which, okay, is weird, but whatever.

I will go hunt down the Tumblr posts as soon as I finish watching the video again. Thanks for the link!

isn't it epic? It's my favorite, with the one with the trolls that comes just before the epic Karkat/Gamzee shooshpap. Sometimes I'll just rewatch it for like three times in a row or just start it to listen to the music. Ngh. *__*

It is an awesome video! (So is the one before the Karkat/Gamzee shooshpap, with the carnival music and the spinning and the ancestors images sort of rising behind the trolls in foreboding warning or whatever.)

I am into Act 6 now and am therefore going to start reading your fic sometime this week. Yay!

Yep, all the kids type their eye colour. I think Hussie confirmed that one on a forumspring Way Back When, but it got deleted when he purged the account.
