In re the page 6472 flash video update from 2/16/12, otherwise known as [S] Prince of Heart: Rise up:

Aside from the grrr argh sexist fail of "oh, let's introduce the Condesce via a shot of her crotch and her hips moving in a stereotypically sexy fashion," that was freaking awesome. You go Dirk! If your cover is going to be blown anyway, then you might as well blow it yourself in the most dramatic and intimidating way possible, and I am hard-pressed to think of a more dramatic statement than publicly flying across Derse's moon and sticking the Hegemonic Brute's decaptitated head on a spear on top of a monument with a warning note smeared with his own blood. It certainly caught the Condesce's attention and pissed off the Draconian Dignitary!

(I wonder why all the ordinary Dersites were following him? They sort of revere their dreamers, right? They probably wouldn't be happy to learn that their rulers were trying to kill those dreamers before the game even starts, right? So... revolution?)

Hmm. While I'm on the subject of epileptic trees, did anyone else think the background when Jake jumps at the Brobot and actually gets the drop on it looks suspiciously similar to the background when Dave reverses time in [S] Dave: Accelerate and Dave: Reverse? We know Lord English is a time traveller, and his minions have other time-related powers. So does Jake (whose last name is English, and whose grandmother started a tech company that uses a green skull as its symbol) have some subconscious ability to use Lord English's time control powers? Did he freeze time for a moment there?

Also, what's up with the coruscating aura around the Condesce as the Black Queen? And why does her gold ring not seem to have four prototyping jewels on it? Just how screwed up is this session going to be???

Tangentially, I love how Andrew Hussie says on Tumblr that he won't be updating for a while and then posts three updates over three days, one of which is an awesome and relatively long video. Does that man ever SLEEP?

In other news, last night the scroll wheel on my mouse broke. :-( Technically the mouse itself still worked just fine, but once you get used to a scroll wheel, it is beyond frustrating to be reduced to clicking the up and down arrow buttons or physically dragging the little sidebar position marker around to navigate long pages.

So I bought a new mouse today. It's wireless, which wasn't something I was specifically looking for, but Best Buy doesn't seem to stock non-wireless mice anymore except in mouse-and-keyboard sets, and I certainly wasn't going to buy a new keyboard when my current one is perfectly fine. And I confess, it will be nice to have one fewer cord to worry about getting tangled behind my computer desk. :-)

I'm pretty sure the coruscating aura around the Condesce is from being empowered by Lord English. The adult Handmaid was pictured with a similar aura.

I'm up to Act 5 Act 2 now I think? EVERYTHING IS COMPLICATED and I don't really get much of it at all.

But it's FUN! :-D The story does make more sense as you get to the end of Act 5; things pull back together after splintering into so many different plot threads.

Well, the Condence wouldn't gain any benefit from a prototyping ring, because they only work on Carapaces. She may have hidden or destroyed the original one when she took over.

A Dersite revolution would need a leader. A banner-waver. A War-weary Villein perhaps? We have been assured that he's going to be coming to this session, so keep an eye out for the color green.

I know it wouldn't work on her, but I figured it was the most important piece of royal regalia, even more than the Black Queen's crown, so for her to NOT be wearing it is kind of... hmm... well, it just seems to me that it would be easier to get the general population to accept her if she kept at least a few of the trappings of the previous regime. *shrug*

I think the Dersite crowds might have been gawkers as much as anything else? The aura on the Condesce does look like LE aura, and my theory is that the ring might not get stones until the session is officially opened by Sburb booting up. ...Of course, considering that the prescratch rings had all four stones long before Jade, at least, was connected at all, that begs the question of whether they will manage to start Sburb before shit starts going to hell in a handbasket (not that an all-dream session wouldn't be cool in a way?).

Oh, yes, they were definitely rubbernecking, but the alarm many of them displayed at the Draconian Dignitary's presence was interesting. I couldn't tell if they were just generally fearful of their government, or if they were specifically worried that, say, not attempting to interfere with Dirk might be interpreted as treason or something.
