Shamed by seeing in print how lax I've been with my writing, I did some editing on "Sir Ron and the Green Knight" -- mostly fixing the weird inconsistencies that pop up when you write something in pieces over four months with no particular outline. Well, I had the original poem as an outline, but that only gets a person so far. It's kind of odd to read it over and realize that at one point the king's court is at Hogwarts and at another point I set it in Camelot, or that using Sirius starts out as Hermione's idea but later he's worked thematically into Apple's outline so obviously it was her idea to use him as the friendly host. This is what crossover-fusions get you. And I'm not even doing a normal sort of crossover! I'm fusing Harry Potter with Old English poetry!
There are times I regret that I seem destined to be an English major. I tried not to be! I really did. But I can't help it. I've always read way too much, and somewhere along the line I picked up the nasty habit of analyzing stories as well. Which has led me to reading nonfiction since I hate picking apart stories while I read them, but nonfiction is a good thing, of course, so maybe ultimately being an English major isn't so bad?
Huh. I have a headache and I'm not making any sense to myself right now, so I think I'll go get some sleep.
