I just got my assignment and went to peek around my remixee's archive. We matched on two fandoms, and I also have moderate to thorough familiarity with some of their other qualifying fandoms though I have never written them. Which sounds like it would be a lot of fic to read through in order to find a story I want to play around with, right?

And it would be, except I have already found the story I am going to remix, and it's not in any of those fandoms. It is instead a fic from a fandom my remixee only ever wrote one story for, and which I have never written in either (though again, I am familiar with it). I read the story out of curiosity -- a quick, "oh, hey, what's this?" urge -- and bang, I was smacked in the metaphorical face by a remix idea, complete with POV change plus various structural and thematic plans.

So now I can safely ignore the whole thing until my NBB fic and art are done. Whew!
